Cafe Latte was born in 1992, inspired by Luca Lorusso, owner and manager.

The 90’s marked the beginning of the new wave of cafes in Melbourne and Cafe Latte was an instant hit with young and old.

Luca not only introduced authentic Italian cuisine to the area, but brought with him his love of jazz, with greats such as Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Ella Fitzgerald being heard in the background as customers would sip on their latte’s and children would draw on butcher paper.

Today, Cafe Latte is a small, lively Italian cafe that has won the hearts of locals. Tucked away in the Hawksburn Village, Cafe Latte is a delightful place full of personality and style, a point of difference and very assured cooking.

Considered a second kitchen by many, the rustic southern Italian food is inspired by the region of Puglia. The menu is brief, seasonal and ever changing. Pasta is very important to the Pugliesi, as is fish, a fondness for pulses and earthy vegetables.  Diners are thus introduced to an extensive tour of Italy without the hassle of jetlag and euro conversions.

Renowned for its delightful service and appealing wine list, one is tempted to linger here for hours..

Cafe Latte is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days, dinner Monday to Saturday and private dining 7 days.
